Diplomas
Professional Diplomas are specialized certifications focused on practical and clinical skills. They are distinct in their content, objectives, and learning outcomes from the traditional academic degrees awarded by the university.
These programs are implemented through coordination and collaboration between various departments and units within the Faculty, as well as in partnership with other faculties within and outside Cairo University at the local, regional, and international levels.

Coordination
Coordination is conducted among applicants for each specialty to fulfill the pre-announced numbers from the departments (minimum and maximum).
Study
Duration
- Study Period: The duration ranges from one to two academic years, divided into semesters.
- Academic Year Structure: Each academic year is divided into two regular semesters (15 weeks each) plus a summer semester (8 weeks).
- Minimum Duration: The minimum study duration for a Professional Diploma is two regular semesters.
Credit
Points
- The Credit Point System is applied to measure student academic achievement according to the European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System (ECTS).
- The program is allocated (30-60) credit points, calculated as follows:
- 1 Theoretical Credit Point = 15 theory hours (1 hour/week) for 15 weeks (semester) + 30 hours of student workload (2 hours/week) for 15 weeks (semester).
- 1 Practical Credit Point = 30 training hours (2-3 hours/week) for 15 weeks (semester) + 15 hours of student workload (1 hour/week) for 15 weeks (semester).
- Note: One teaching hour equals fifty minutes.
Study
Program
Program Structure: The diploma structure consists of a training program and practical or clinical applications representing 75% of the total credit points, while theoretical courses for knowledge content do not exceed 25% of the total credit points.
Course Categories: Study courses are divided into core courses, supporting courses, and elective courses.
Theoretical Instruction: Theoretical teaching is conducted remotely via the educational platform.

Examinations
Educational Path Tracking: The student’s progress is monitored through periodic formative assessments, providing feedback, offering support when needed, and training students on various types of examinations.
Performance Evaluation: Student performance is evaluated according to the rules detailed in the approved specification file.
Training Documentation: Training in each semester is documented using assessment forms (Appendix 1 & 2).
Attendance Requirements: Students must fulfill 80% of attendance and training requirements in a semester to be allowed to progress to the next semester.
Submission of Forms: At the end of each semester, completed forms are sent to the Postgraduate Examination Control Office.
Assessment Weighting: Completion and acceptance of these forms account for 40% of the total credit points.
Final Exam Eligibility: Fulfilling a minimum of 80% attendance and requirements for supporting and elective courses is mandatory to apply for the final exam.
Final Examination: A final exam for awarding the diploma is held after the completion of the final semester.
Examination Sessions: Exams are held three times a year (January, June, and September).
Examination Groups: Students must pass two sets of final exams:
Practical/Clinical Exam: Represents 35% of the total credit points.
Theoretical Exam.
Grading Scale: Each credit point for courses is allocated 50 marks.
Examination Sequence: Students must pass the Practical/Clinical exam to be allowed to sit for the Theoretical exam.
Passing Thresholds:
The minimum passing grade for practical exams is 60%.
The minimum passing grade for theoretical exams is 50%.
Mercy Marks: There are no mercy marks (grace marks).
Failure Policy:
Students who fail the practical exam may re-apply for only the next two consecutive sessions.
Students who fail the theoretical exam may apply for a second-session exam within one month of the results announcement. If unsuccessful, they may apply for the following session only while retaining their practical exam marks.
Theoretical Exam Format: The theoretical exam consists of Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs).
Examination Duration: For each credit point, 30 minutes to one hour is allocated for the theoretical exam. The duration of a single written exam shall be no less than one hour and no more than three hours for any course or unit.
Supervision: Final theoretical examinations are held under the supervision of the Postgraduate Examination Control Office.

Completion
To be awarded the Professional Diploma, the following requirements must be met:
Attendance: Full completion of theoretical courses via virtual classrooms and discussion rooms on the e-learning platform.
Practical Training: Completion of all clinical, practical, and laboratory training sessions.
Examinations: Passing the final examinations.
Tuition Fees: Full payment of the required tuition fees.
Certification Approval: Completion certificates for Professional Diplomas are approved by the Head(s) of the providing Department(s), the Dean of the Faculty (or their deputy, the Vice Dean), and the President of the University.
Joint Programs: In cases where multiple entities participate in a diploma, the certificates are approved by the heads of all participating entities.
