Mission

 

Post-MBBCh programs comprise two distinct academic degrees:

The Master’s Degree (M.Sc.), which qualifies candidates for specialized medical practice and further advanced studies; and the Medical Doctorate (M.D.), an advanced academic degree that empowers holders to pursue scientific research, academic teaching, and attain the highest levels of professional and clinical excellence.

Required Documents for Admission

Each applicant must submit a dossier containing the following documents:

  1. Application Form.
  2. Bachelor’s Degree Certificate: indicating the overall grade and the specific grade of the specialty subject.

  3. Internship Completion Certificate.

  4. Birth Certificate: (original or an official extract).

  5. Employer Approval: stating consent for registration and full-time dedication to studies.

  6. Military Service Status: (for Egyptian male applicants).

  7. 6 Recent Personal Photographs.

  8. For International Students (Non-Egyptians):

    • A formal letter of no objection from the applicant’s Embassy, specifying the sponsoring entity for tuition fees.

    • A valid Health Certificate issued by the Ministry of Health, confirming the applicant is free from infectious diseases.

  9. For Doctorate Degree (M.D./Ph.D.) Applicants: A Master’s Degree certificate is also required.

  10. Research Protocol: Doctorate applicants must submit the thesis protocol along with a statement of the current supervisory load of their supervisors (listing other M.Sc. and M.D. theses under their supervision) within six months of registration.

Academic Degrees Awarded by the Faculty of Medicine

Specialized Diplomas

Professional Diplomas are specialized certifications focused on practical and clinical skills. They are distinct in their content, objectives, and learning outcomes from the university’s traditional academic degrees.
These programs are implemented through coordination and collaboration between various departments and units within the Faculty, as well as in partnership with other faculties within and outside Cairo University at the local, regional, and international levels.

Master’s Degree (M.Sc.)

To be eligible for registration for the Master’s Degree, applicants must hold a Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery (MBBCh) from an Egyptian university or an equivalent degree from a recognized foreign university accredited by the Supreme Council of Universities (SCU). Additionally, candidates must have completed their compulsory internship year (or its equivalent).
Candidates are also required to fulfill all university-mandated prerequisites prior to the formal registration of the thesis.

Medical Doctorate (M.D.)

To be eligible for registration for the Doctorate degree in any of the Clinical, Surgical, or Basic Medical Science departments, applicants must hold a Master’s Degree (M.Sc.) in the relevant specialty from an Egyptian university or an equivalent degree from a recognized academic institution accredited by the Supreme Council of Universities (SCU).
Furthermore, the period elapsed since obtaining the Master’s degree must not exceed ten years at the time of registration.
