Technical Support Office for Projects & Grants


About Us

A technical support office for projects & grants was established in Kasr AlAini, as per decision of Faculty Council on 19th September 2011, to facilitate and enhance staff members’ participation in R&D projects. It is located temporarily in the Vice-Dean’s office for Postgraduate Studies and Research.



To develop Kasr AlAini Faculty of Medicine competitiveness in academic and applied medicine through improving its research and development (R&D) performance.



The Office has primary responsibility for connecting to external partners, seeking grants from national and international foundations or corporations, and supporting faculty staff in project application processes, which are within the faculty’s overall mission and academic & research objectives.


1-Enhancing the capacities of faculty members to write competitive research proposals through workshops, seminars or small group tutoring, and assisting them in the preparation and submission of research proposals.

2- Identifying external funding sources (including foundations, corporations, and government agencies) for both institutional grants and those in support of faculty research projects, education development grants or training grants as postdoctoral fellowships, and matching them with the faculty’s expertise and interest.

3-Enhancing, facilitating and promoting for the European Commission’s Seventh Framework Programme for Research, Development and Technology (EU-FP-7) to all researchers and staff members of faculties of Health Sector at Cairo University.

4- Fostering effective communication between the office, faculty departments and individuals and between them and the external / international community and alumni, thus improving networking and international collaboration at projects.

5- Sending announcements of grants, starting dates, deadlines, regulations, details, periodical e-newsletters and links to grants by e-mails to researchers enlisted in the database. Information will be posted and updated regularly on the Kasr AlAini web portal.


Open Calls

  • The Welcome Project offers scholarships for undergraduate, master, doctoral and post-doctoral students and staff. These scholarships are financed by the European Commission under the Erasmus Mundus Programme and will cover travel, insurance, participation costs and subsistence allowance. The call for applications for the 2012/2013 Academic Year will be open from January 23rd to March 31st 2012.

  • Tempus IV – 5th Call for Proposals EACEA 25/2011: Tempus is the European Union’s programme which supports the modernisation of higher education in the Partner Countries of Eastern Europe, Central Asia, the Western Balkans and the Mediterranean region, mainly through university cooperation projects. Deadline 23rd Feb 2012.
